Canadian Sheep Federation Welcomes New Chairperson at the 2023 AGM

[Ottawa, December 12, 2023] – The Canadian Sheep Federation (CSF) held it’s Annual General Meeting virtually on Saturday, December 9th, 2023. The meeting was marked by insightful presentations and the election of the Executive Committee for the coming year.
The Board is pleased to announce its Executive Committee for the upcoming year, a harmonious blend of experienced leadership and new vision. Fred Baker from Ontario steps into the role of Chairperson, bringing fresh perspectives to guide the federation. He is joined by Simon Atkinson of Manitoba (MSA) as the proactive Vice-Chair, Barbara Ydenberg from British Columbia (BCSF), who will lend her expertise as Secretary, and Bernadette Nikkel of Alberta (CSBA), who continues to provide her invaluable financial acumen as Treasurer. This balanced team combines continuity with innovative ideas, perfectly positioned to uphold and advance the mission of the Canadian Sheep Federation.
In a special note of gratitude, the Board acknowledges the exceptional contributions of Allan Ribbink, who has completed his 5-year term as Chair. His dedicated and tireless efforts have significantly advanced the organization and the industry’s priorities. Allan’s hard work, leadership, and commitment to the CSF have been instrumental in shaping the federation’s trajectory. His presence on the Board will be greatly missed, and his impact long remembered.
In his statement, the newly elected Chair, Fred Baker, expressed his vision for the future: “The Canadian Sheep Federation has a long history of delivering, for all Canadian lamb producers, on programs that affect the daily operations of our farms. I look forward to working with the talented Directors elected from our member organizations and continuing that history. By working together with all the stakeholders in our industry, we can deliver on the tremendous potential that exists for Canadian lamb.”
The CSF remains committed to its mission of advocating and working on behalf of all Canadian lamb producers. As highlighted in the annual report, the federation continues to focus on areas such as advocacy, programming, research, and development to enhance the growth and sustainability of the Canadian sheep and lamb industry.
