Wanted: Shepherd and flock for weed control pilot project in Saskatchewan’s capital
The Provincial Capital Commission seeks a flock of sheep or goats and a shepherd to assist with a noxious weed control program in Wascana Centre in Regina. Wascana Centre’s ecology team will support the shepherd to develop a grazing program that best suits the needs of the flock. The sheep or goats will graze on three trial areas in Wascana Centre. The program is expected to launch in the spring of 2022.

Are you looking for grazing and an opportunity to help the environment by putting your sheep and goats to work?  The Saskatchewan Sheep Development Board will assist the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport with finding producers interested in helping them with their Targeted Grazing Program.  The goal of the program is to use sheep and goats at targeted grazing projects to reduce the cover of invasive plants and buildup of grass fuels in the provincial park system.
